Lesson objectives

  1. To practise grammar and improve understanding of spoken word in a foreign language
  2. To understand the reasons for migration and circumstances of the life of immigrants
  3. To respect different cultures and traditions

One day giraffe finds out that the local dictator disconnected the water pipes. Right after she revolts against the unfair act, she is expelled from her homeland. But life in the new country, where dogs are the only inhabitants is not so easy. After the never-ending wait in line for her asylum application, the only thing that awaits her in the newly rented room is a suspicious look of her landlady. After the locals refuse to give her a job due to her foreign origin, she starts to become desperate. Only after she meets a friendly local gardener she seems to start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Her long neck comes in very handy when cutting trees and hedges. The last thing that she is missing to be really happy is an official approval that she can stay in the new country legally. Playful animated piece with several funny moments shows in a poignant way the typical hurdles every refugee must face in a new country.
